Robinhood to offer weekend US stock trading

Robinhood Markets will introduce weekend trading for a select list of US stocks and exchange-traded funds, subject to regulatory review, starting next year. This move extends the brokerage’s round-the-clock weekday market, which has been in operation since 2023.
The new feature is being launched in partnership with overnight trading infrastructure firm Bruce ATS. According to the company, about 25% of total daily trading volume on busy days comes from outside traditional hours, approximately 10 months after launching 24-hour weekday trading.
Expanding Trading Capabilities
Abhishek Fatehpuria, vice president of product management at Robinhood, stated that the company’s focus is on making Robinhood the best place for active traders by providing them with tools typically reserved for hedge funds and big active trading firms.
Thin liquidity outside traditional hours could result in traders not getting optimal prices. Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange are also pushing ahead with plans to extend trading hours.
Since a preview in May 2026, roughly 150,000 people have created agentic trading accounts, and these assistants are now performing almost 30 million daily tool queries. Users can direct agents to track markets and place trades, covering automated strategies that execute based on specific conditions.

Agentic Trading and AI
By default, every trade requires approval, though this setting can be disabled to allow autonomous action using funds moved to a dedicated agentic account. Clients are liable for their agents’ actions, and Robinhood has not yet analyzed or contrasted the results of agentic accounts versus other methods.
According to local reports, seven in ten retail investors have used AI to help make investment decisions, with 59% of that group acting on the recommendations they received. Fatehpuria noted that very few people will put a large portion of their net worth in their agentic account and start trading on day one.
Subject to regulatory clearance, Cboe Global Markets intends to introduce binary contracts linked to company-specific key performance indicators in October, with Robinhood serving as the first retail broker to provide them. These contracts will be listed on Cboe’s registered US securities exchange under SEC rules.
US users who qualify will also obtain access to crypto perpetual contracts that provide up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ether, plus positions in assets like Solana and Ripple, enjoying a promotional fee of 0.01% through the end of the year. Extended options trading hours are scheduled for October, and 4x intraday margin for qualified accounts arrives next month.
International Expansion
The company entered Canada on June 1 after finalizing the purchase of Toronto-based WonderFi Technologies Inc., bringing Bitbuy, Coinsquare, and Bitcoin.ca under its umbrella. The Canadian offering remains crypto-only, though Johann Kerbrat, senior vice-president and general manager of crypto and international, has said crypto is only the first step into Canada.
